Pearl Beach Art Trail 2025

Jenny’s first exhibition with the Pearl Beach Art Trail, showcased a series of paintings titled Where is my phone?.

The works explores the intersection of beach house living, technology and local life. A weekend away is not the same as it use to be, the city tags along in the form of a phone, ipad or digital device of some kind. Technology invades and yet undergirds our contemporary lifestyle, tethering us to our interests, relationships and habits. Even when we ‘escape to a beach house’ we are still connected to our devices that keep us abreast with responsibilities, work and the ongoing drama of national and international events and tragedies near and far.

The series reflects the contemporary paradox of home life, the invisible walls between work, leisure and responsibility. While the works are purposely fun, using a bright colour pallet and a gentle aesthetic, they also suggest an undertone of concern that lives just under the surface.
